Job description

Working in International Legal Team is challenging, but also rewarding. International Legal Team has helped HD Hyundai successfully navigate through difficult times in the industry, having a long tradition of strong presence in international arbitration in particular (including successfully leading one of the largest arbitration cases in the industry’s history). International Legal Team also strives to maintain the highest quality of service in all works carried out.

Successful candidate(s) will be required to provide comprehensive legal support for both contentious and non-contentious matters to HD Hyundai’s businesses and affiliates including the following:

· Disputes

o Analysing claims and developing legal strategies for disputes

o Leading and managing cross-border arbitrations and litigation

o Negotiating for settlement

· Contracts

o Drafting, reviewing and advising on standard and non-standard forms of contracts (e.g. EPC, shipbuilding, licensing, service and supply agreements)

o Negotiating with other multinational companies on large- scale projects

· Transactions

o Advising on joint ventures, investments, business transfers, joint development projects, and financing-related arrangements with various foreign entities

o Advising on commercial/trade transactions

· Compliance and Regulatory

o Advising on regulatory matters including privacy laws, anti-corruption laws and international trade sanctions

o Advising on trade-remedy and customs matters, including various types of tariffs

International Legal Team is seeking to hire lawyers for its offices in HD Hyundai Global R&D Center(GRC, Bundang) and Ulsan. Accordingly, candidates are requested to indicate their order of preference for these work locations on their application.

Candidate requirements

To be considered for the role, you will need:

· a J.D. or equivalent degree and/or license to practice in a common or civil law jurisdiction;

· 2-7 years of experience in a major law firm or large corporate in-house setting (cross-border transactions and dispute-handling experience preferred);

· excellent proficiency in oral and written communication in English.

· cross-border experience and familiarity with the laws of multiple jurisdictions;

· ability to work in a fast-paced environment while simultaneously handling multiple assignments across different fields;

· a team-oriented mindset to function as part of a team and work collaboratively in both a Korean and multi-cultural environment; and

· a strong work ethic and self-discipline.
